Video of the Day: Animals with Issues

The creators of Wallace and Gromit interviewed people about body image then took their responses and, as Kate Harding says, “put them in the mouth of squishy animated animals”. The visuals are entertaining and the audio…well, when you put the kind of comments we’ve all heard (or said) about appearance back to back it all sounds pretty ridiculous.

The little guy that comes in at 6:01 won my heart. I’m assuming he was asked the same questions as everyone else (”Do you think you’re attractive?”, “What would you change about your appearance?”, etc.) but he doesn’t mention his physical appearance at all. He says that he wishes he was better at math so that he could understand quantum physics. And he would like to know kung fu. Wanting to be more intelligent and physically strong/nimble are much more practical complaints than saying you wish you had a different nose or that your breasts were larger. Well played, my kung fu quantum physicist. Well played.
